BIOGRAPHY

Scott was born and raised on Long Island in New York. He started his career in public safety right out of high school in fire/rescue communications. After almost seven years he took a job with the City of Fort Wayne’s 9-1-1 Communication Center in Indiana. While in Fort Wayne Scott promoted quickly to Lieutenant then a couple of years later to Training Lieutenant then finally in 2003 to Captain. Do to some reorganization and needs of the Fort Wayne Police Department Scott was transferred to Police Headquarters where he took over the Records Division which consisted of 21 clerks and 9 records technicians. In 2005, Scott accepted a position with the Kennewick Police Department to fill their newly formed Records Supervisor position. Over the last couple of years his role and the needs of the department changed from records to Staff Services Supervisor where his responsibilities were expanded to include Crime Analysis, Property & Evidence and Crime Scene. In early 2007 with the retirement of the Assistant Chief there were once again changes and Scott was promoted to Staff Services Manager over the Staff Services Division and again his role changed as he assumed many of the administrative duties of the Assistant Chief’s position such as the department budget, contract services, intergovernmental services, etc.

Scott holds undergraduate degrees in business from Indiana Wesleyan University, public affairs and urban planning from Indiana University, and he just completed his Masters in Public Administration from Eastern Washington University.

Scott attended his first LEIRA conference in spring of 2005 and immediately realized the importance of such an organization where the people who do what we do can train and network. He immediately wanted to get involved and was recently the host for the Spring 2007 Conference in Kennewick. He looks forward to working with the members of LEIRA.

In addition to LEIRA Scott serves on the Washington State Youth Soccer Association District 6 Board, is active in Leadership Tri-Cities, and United Way of Benton-Franklin Counties. In his spare time he likes to golf and travel.
