Conference Training
For anyone who has never hosted a conference or have not hosted
one in a long time, I wanted to take some time to talk about how
training classes are decided upon and why we offer some of the
classes that we do. All training that is put on at the conferences is
approved by the entire Executive Board and is generally made up
of classes requested by the host committee as well as other
suggestions received throughout the year.
° Track 1 are core or general records classes
° Track 2 is for Property and Evidence
° Track 3 is for Supervisors and Managers
° Track 4 is for Miscellaneous classes.
We are always open for class suggestions and new instructor
ideas. Understand that some class ideas take time before we are
able to offer them at a conference. A lot of times, we get great
topic ideas submitted, but there are no instructors that teach that
particular topic. In those instances, we keep a list of the topics and
continue looking for qualified instructors and/or we find instructors
who volunteer to develop a whole new class. So, keep on submitting
those ideas! We start planning about a year in advance for the
upcoming conferences. I encourage people to send me ideas or
attend the training meetings at the conferences. If you have any
requests, please feel free to let me know.
