President Stacee Hoffee's Message

January 2008

I wanted to write a brief hello and to let you know how excited I am to have been entrusted to represent you, the members of LEIRA as your 2008 President. I have been serving on the LEIRA Executive Board for the past three years, first as Secretary and then two years as your 1st Vice President. I enjoyed working closely with everyone on the previous executive boards and as 2008 approaches I look forward to working with an executive board seated by some of the most dedicated members of our association. A bit about me, I have spent the past 20 years in some kind of Law Enforcement, starting in 1988 in the Air Force where I was a law enforcement specialist (military police), a stint in the 90’s with Wapato Police Department as a dispatcher and currently since 1997 working for the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office assigned as administrative support for the LEAD Narcotics Task Force and last but not least I also work part time as the Records manager for Mabton Police Department on my day off. Besides work I enjoy spending time with my husband Mike, daughter Jordan who is a senior and traveling to my future home in Panama. One of my greatest and busiest passions is Special Olympics; I am currently the Eastern Washington Regional co-coordinator for the Law enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics. I have been involved in this program for 10 years.

Why LEIRA for me? From the attendance of my first LEIRA training conference in Pasco years ago, I knew I wanted to be a part of this organization, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would accomplish all that I have. At that conference, I remember volunteering the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office to host the 2002 Spring Conference, I had no idea what I was in for, the amount of work it took to host a conference but the rewards outweighed all of the headache, so much so that when we were asked to host LEIRA’s 20th Anniversary conference in 2005, how could I say no. It is from my attendance at LEIRA Training Conferences that I have made many wonderful friends and have discovered a wealth of people knowledgeable in every aspect of law enforcement records. Both of these things have become important reasons for me to continue to see LEIRA be successful in the upcoming years.

I truly hope to continue the works of those before me and look forward to serving each of you in the next year as your President. If anyone has any ideas for the upcoming year, feel free to contact me either by email: stacee.hoffee@co.yakima.wa.us or telephone (509) 865-5900. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at one of our wonderful training conferences scheduled in 2008.

Sincerely,
Stacee Hoffee
