Committees

The Bylaws Committee: will meet when deemed necessary by the Association President, Committee Chairperson, or a majority of the committee members.  The duties of the committee will be to make and evaluate suggestions for amendments or revisions of each of the articles and submit same to the Executive Board for approval.  The Bylaws Committee is responsible for the distribution of the approved proposed changes to the membership of LEIRA not less than 30 days prior to the next General Business Meeting of the Association. In addition, the Committee shall report to the membership of the Association during the General Business Meeting of the Training Conference, and to maintain and amend as necessary the original by-laws document.

The Chairperson of the Bylaws Committee will serve as a parliamentarian unless an alternative is appointed by the Executive Board.  The Parliamentarian will attend the meetings of the Executive Board in an advisory capacity and shall have no vote in the business proceedings.

The Legislative Committee:  will meet when deemed necessary by the Association President, Committee Chairperson, or a majority of the committee members.  The duties of the committee shall be to work with the Liaison Officer (Ex-Officio) in making recommendations to and receiving input from the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs on information and records systems related to legislation; receive proposed legislation that is pertinent to the Association; provide a source of information to the Association members on matters of legislation; and to coordinate the efforts of the Association with the Legislative Liaison Committee of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs in its attempts to influence the course of legislation pertaining to criminal justice information and records management.  Proposals to amend/modify pending or existing statues, or for new legislation, will be presented to the WASPC Legislative Liaison Committee for their concurrence and for presentation to the Legislature.

The Membership Committee:  will meet when deemed necessary by the Association President, Committee Chairperson, or a majority of the committee members.  The duties of the committee will be to maintain a current mailing list of all LEIRA members.  The committee is responsible to invoice agencies each year and to follow up with agencies who fail to renew membership promptly.  The committee is also responsible for regular and current updates to the official membership roster on the LEIRA website.  At least once each year, an effort will be made to contact non-member agencies to encourage membership.

The Training and Conference Committees:  will meet when deemed necessary by the Association President, Committee Chairperson, or a majority of the committee members.  The Training Committee will submit a training agenda prior to its publication to the Executive Board for approval. 

The Conference Committee will assist in securing future conference and regional training sites, establish curriculum and arrange for trainers, and prepare for conferences. The Training Committee shall report to the membership of the Association during the General Business Meeting, and to maintain records of all training addressed through the Association.

The Chairperson of the Training Committee will attend all meetings of the Association.  The Chairperson will attend the meetings of the Executive Board in an advisory a capacity and shall have no vote in the business proceedings.
