In this repeat live webinar we will examine the PRA's body worn camera recording provisions including the unique request requirements, privacy related to images and audio, redaction and fees.

The use of body worn cameras in law enforcement agencies is increasing. When first implemented, the public records issues and impacts from these cameras were not completely known. In part, due to the sensitive nature of many of the recording's content, privacy considerations became a significant concern with agency regulations and polices ultimately proving inadequate. The legislature responded in 2016, and again in 2018, amending the PRA. Subsequent sessions, including the current one, have seen other bills related to body worn cameras. The amendments addressed many of the identified concerns and in the process enacted PRA provisions unique to these recordings.

We are repeating this webinar due to the number of requests from people that were unable to attend the fist session. After the first webinar, there were also a number of individuals that wanted others in their departments to hear the presentation directly. This will be a live session repeating the February 23, 2022 webinar. If you attended the February session, of course you can re-register. We have extended the webinars duration to facilitate a greater opportunity for questions and answers.
